Claire at CG Optical takes pride in keeping our collection on trend, and the 2024 collection is no exception. The lenses are from Essilor and our own designs. We have the latest styles of the very best glasses and sunglasses from some of the finest brands. Our range includes Maui Jim, CHANEL, Catherine de Medici, Hublot, Chopard, Tom Ford, Tag Heuer, Kirk & Kirk, Ray-Ban, and Face a Face, to name but a few. All our designer glasses and sunglasses are crafted using top-quality materials that not only look and feel luxurious but also ensure longevity. The frames are often made from high-grade materials such as acetate, titanium, and premium metals offering both durability and comfort.

There are also certain styles of frames that would be more suitable for different prescriptions which is why choosing our Style Consultation is always a good option when you’re looking to make an investment in new sunglasses or glasses. For example, a non-metal frame is more suitable for a high prescription as metal frames tend to be quite thin. An acetate frame is more suited to a higher prescription lens. However, if there is a metal frame you love, we can still fit high prescription lenses, as long as you select the thinnest lens option.

When you have selected the frame that you want, our lens experts Claire and Emily will advise you on the best type of prescription lens for you, as there are many different types of lenses available. Claire and Emily will help you choose the type of lens that would best suit your lifestyle or application.

• Single Vision – Distance: Lenses with one prescription for distance use e.g. driving or general use.
• Single vision – Reading: Lenses with one prescription for reading use e.g. reading a book or using a computer.
• Varifocal / Progressive: Lenses that include distance, intermediate, and reading in one perfect lens so no-one will even notice that you’re wearing varifocals, there’s no line just one even lens with a gradual change in prescription from distance vision at the top to near vision at the bottom. These are best suited for everyday general use.
• Occupational/Office: Lenses that have an intermediate and reading prescription only. These lenses are optimised for an office environment, for looking at your computer and your desk.

You can then select the look and add-ons for your lenses, like coatings:

• Clear: No tint, regular lenses, available in a variety of thicknesses and coatings.
• Tints: We have a colourful array of tints to choose from that individualise your look. Full UVA/UVB protection
• Polarised Sunglasses: Has additional layers to filter out more UV rays and reduce additional glare.

We then also look at lens coatings:

• Anti-Scratch/Anti-Glare: This lens has a scratch-resistant and an anti-reflection/anti-glare coating
• Premium: Scratch and smudge resistant with anti-reflection coating.
• Elite: Super hydrophobic anti-reflection coating.
• Blue computer coating: This is the Premium coating with an additional blue coating which helps with screen usage fatigue.

Light-sensitive lenses are ideal if you don’t like swapping between your normal glasses and sunglasses. They darken automatically in response to bright light and lighten again when the light levels decrease. We use the latest technology for all the lens options we supply.
